Businesses targeted through skills ad
campaign
Employers
are being urged to recognise the benefits of workplace
training through a new Government ad campaign.
During
November peak-time television and radio adverts will promote the Train to Gain
initiative, claiming that it is now quicker and easier for employers to access
the training needed to drive their business forward.
Train to Gain offers free,
impartial advice, support and funding to help companies of all sizes train and
develop their employees.
Last month the Government
announced that small business will be the primary beneficiary of a £350 million funding package to help them train their
staff.
‘Small
businesses are the backbone of our economy, but don't always have the time or
resources to find out about the support that is available to help them thrive,’
said Skills Secretary John Denham. ‘This campaign will ensure no small business
that needs support misses out.’
The Train to Gain package grants SMEs funding for ‘bite-sized chunks’ – small units or
modules of qualifications in subjects known to be valued by them, such as team-work,
business improvement, customer service and risk management.
It also extends the leadership
and management programme to enable SMEs with fewer employees to benefit from the initiative.
